We interpret radiographic studies of dogs and cats. We do not interpret exotic animal, equine, or dental radiographs at this time.
We do not routinely provide a VHS on thoracic studies. The VHS is of limited diagnostic utility in isolation. The combination of respiratory and cardiac cycles has been shown to significantly alter the VHS. The VHS has also been shown to vary between breeds and be significantly higher in right vs. left lateral recumbency. VHS can underestimate left atrial enlargement, and the radiologists assessment of left atrial size has been shown to be a superior indicator of left atrial size compared to VHS. We are happy to provide a VHS upon request, especially for serial evaluation.
